Highlights in October
2004

  • A number of International Relations students of State University of Jember visited us on October 6, 2004

  • In collaboration, American Corner Central Library UMY, Student English Activity (SEA) UMY, and RELO, US Embassy Indonesia invited Damon Anderson on One Day Seminar "Applying Multiple Intelligences in Teaching English" on October 12, 2004 at. It drew 80s audiences of English Teachers and Instructors of High Schools and English Courses, Students around Yogyakarta Province, Reporters and so. 

  • October 18, 2004, we started four new English Conversation Class (ECC) classes named PRORISMA (Program Bahasa Inggris Romadhon). It's available at 3.30 pm - 5 pm.

The second "American Corner" was opened by Charles N. Silver, Counselor for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Indonesia and Rector Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY), Dr.H. Khoiruddin Bashori, on Saturday, April 24, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., at the Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta, Central Library Building, 2nd Floor, Jl. Lingkar Barat, Tamantirto, Kasihan, Yogyakarta. The new "American Corner" collection at UMY will be open to the general public 6 days per week, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., except Indonesian holidays. And that means that we need to nurture an international perspective among our students. Not only so that we can understand other cultures, but also so that we can better understand ourselves. The problems and challenges that any nation or any society faces are the same. And we can learn from seeing how other societies deal with their problems and challenges; but to do that we need to know more about one another.
