Claims for asylum or refugee status are
initiated and finalized through the Department of Homeland Security
(DHS), Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS
).
The US Embassy in
Jakarta
is generally only involved in completing
the processing of spouses or children of individuals who have
claimed asylum or refugee status in the
US
. It does not accept applications for asylum in foreign
countries.
