LOST GREEN CARDS

If your Permanent Resident card ("green card") has been lost, stolen, or is expired, you may come to Window 4 of the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta to apply for a transportation letter to travel back to the United States .  Note: The Consulate in Surabaya , the Consulate in Medan , and the Consular Agent in Bali cannot issue transportation letters.

Hours for emergency green card replacements: Monday to Friday, 7.30 – 11.00 (excluding American and Indonesian holidays).

Please be advised that in order to obtain a transportation letter, you must provide proof of your current legal permanent resident status (photocopy of green card, stamp in passport, etc.). You must also prove that you have been in the U.S. within the last year. If the green card was stolen, a police report is needed.  In addition to this proof, you will also need to submit your passport and three identical photos and pay the Transportation Letter fee of USD 165.  This fee is subject to change.

Note: The transportation letter is not a replacement ‘green card’.  The transportation letter is only to explain that your ‘green card’ is lost/stolen/expired.

To get the actual physical replacement ‘green card’, you must file a Form I-90 with USCIS in the US .  The fee for a lost ‘green card’ is USD 190 plus a biometrics fee of USD 70.  These fee amounts are subject to change. You may be able to file the Form I-90 electronically.
