On June 24, 2009, Ted Osius assumed the position of Deputy Chief of
Mission in the United States Embassy in Jakarta.
From 2006 to 2009, Mr. Osius served as Minister Counselor for
Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi.
He advised the Ambassador on India’s foreign policy and
domestic politics. From
2004 to 2006, Mr. Osius served as deputy director of the Office of
Korean Affairs at the Department of State.
The office handles Korean Peninsula issues, including the
Six-Party Talks aimed at curbing North Korea’s nuclear ambitions.
From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Osius served as Embassy Bangkok’s regional
environmental affairs officer, where he was responsible for science,
technology and health issues in Thailand and twenty-four other Asian
and Pacific nations.
From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Osius served as Senior Adviser on
International Affairs to Vice President Al Gore, with a portfolio
encompassing Asia, international economics and trade issues.
Mr. Osius joined the U.S. Department of State in 1989.
He served in U.S. missions in: Manila, Philippines; the
Vatican; the United Nations; Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
