Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Ted Osius delivered remarks at the PerpuSeru project launch.

On Monday October 17, 2011, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Ted Osius delivered remarks at the launching of the PerpuSeru project. PerpuSeru is a nation-wide library development project that will focus on providing access to Information Technology hardware and software, library staff training courses, and advocacy development at 40 district public libraries across Indonesia.

The Bill & Melinda Gates foundation’s Global Libraries Initiative is awarding a $5 million grant to the project, and Coca Cola Foundation Indonesia will act as the implementing partner to provide support for the empowerment and sustainability of the participating libraries. In his remarks, DCM Osius emphasized the importance of the project in relation to the U.S.- Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership initiatives in the education field.
