Anti-Trafficking in Persons, Fraud Training to
Indonesian Police
Jakarta, July 10 -- The
U.S. Department of Justice’s International Criminal
Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) and
Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), and U.S. Embassy
Jakarta’s consular section’s Fraud Prevention Unit
conducted a series of seminars on how to fight
Trafficking-in-Persons and identify document fraud for
the Indonesian National Police and Indonesian Attorney
General’s Office prosecutors. (complete

Senior U.S.
Cultural Affairs Official Visits Indonesia to Promote Exchanges
Jakarta, July 7 -- U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for
Educational and Cultural Affairs Goli Ameri visited Indonesia to meet with
Indonesian educators, cultural experts, and alumni from U.S.-Indonesian
exchange programs. Ms. Ameri heads the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of
Educational and Cultural Affairs, which fosters mutual understanding between
the people of the United States and the people of other countries around the
world. Her trip included both Jakarta and Yogyakarta. She met with
representatives from the State Alumni Teachers Association, and Director
General of Higher Education Fasli Jalal from the Ministry of National

U.S. Ambassador, Prambors Honor Indonesian “Greetings From
America” Student Radio Hosts
Jakarta, July 11 -- U.S. Ambassador Cameron R. Hume presented
certificates to recognize the contribution that the student hosts of the
“Greetings from America” youth radio program made to further U.S. -
Indonesian relations. The U.S. Embassy co-hosted an event honoring Prambors,
at d’Place Restaurant in Sarinah. The five students returned to Indonesia
after a year studying in the United States as high-school exchange students
and living with American families. In addition to their studies, the
students reported for the nationally-broadcast radio program, “Greetings
from America.”

U.S. Embassy Celebrates
Independence Day
Jakarta, July 4 -- U.S. Ambassador Cameron R. Hume
(center) was joined onstage by Coordinating Minister for
Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Widodo AS (left)
and Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda (right) during the
Indonesian Children’s Choir performance of both the
Indonesian and American national anthems at the U.S.
Embassy’s Fourth of July Celebration at the Shangri-La
Hotel in Jakarta. U.S. Independence Day marks the
anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of
Independence on July 4th, 1776.
