The Information Resource Center is a reference
service providing up-to-date information to Indonesian audiences on
the United States, its people and its policies. The subject emphasis
is on American politics and government, economics and trade, foreign
affairs and defense, education and the culture, as well as global
issues such as drugs, human rights and the environment. Staffed by
professional documentation and reference specialists and equipped with
modern information retrieval technologies such as on-line databases
and the Internet, the IRC can provide continually updated information
on current U.S. policy and legislation to Indonesian government
officials, academics and journalists.
PRODUCTS AND SERVICES:
Article Alert: A monthly publication presents
around 10 new articles with annotations in five thematic areas:
International Relations, Economics and Trade, U.S. Politics and
Society, Technology and Environment, Education and Culture. ALERT is
distributed on print and electronically to about more than 1000
selected Indonesian recipients nationwide.
Electronic Journals: Five electronic journals
(Economic Perspectives, U.S. Foreign Policy Agenda, U.S. Society &
Values, Global Issues, and Issues of Democracy) are published by the
International Information Programs, U.S. Department of State, issuing
on an irregular, rotating cycle, with a new journal appearing every
three weeks.
Research/Reference Service: Information
provided upon request about U.S. policies in domestic and
international affairs, via phone calls, fax, mail, e-mail, and visits
by appointment.
SDI (Selective Dissemination of Information):
Selected information materials (journal articles, books, & online
information) are sent to individuals on topics of their professional
interests. Currently, IRC also offers Electronic SDI, in which the
information is sent out electronically to key members who have e-mail
addresses.
Topic Bibliography: A selected listing of IRC
materials compiled to support U.S. mission in Indonesia of
programs.
U.S. Embassy in Indonesia Home page
