NOTE:  ONLY APPOINTMENT ELIGIBLE FAMILY MEMBERS AS DEFINED BELOW OF U.S. GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES ASSIGNED TO THE MISSION UNDER CHIEF OF MISSION AUTHORITY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.  AN AEFM DOES NOT HAVE TO BE RESIDING IN COUNTRY TO BE CONSIDERED.  THEY WOULD BE NORMALLY CONSIDERED WITHIN ONE MONTH TIME FRAME OF ENROUTE TO POST AND PHONE INTERVIEW IS AN OPTION FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT ARRIVED AT POST YET.

 

The U.S. Embassy Jakarta is seeking an US Citizen Eligible Family Member (AEFM) for employment for of Computer Assistant in the Information Systems Center (ISC).

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

Responsible for OpenNet hardware and software installations and upgrades within the Controlled Access Area (CAA).  Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure computing environment by keeping all OpenNet PCs up to date with the latest security patches.  Ensure that all PC meet the Department minimum baseline standards.  Respond to support call as directed by the ISC Helpdesk and the LAN manager.  Provide basic assistance to users on Microsoft applications.  Maintain the CAA OpenNet equipment inventory and storage.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

1.     Completion of high school and COMPTIA A+ certification is required.

 

2.     One year of experience working with personal computers is required.

 

3.     Level 4 (fluency) in Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required.

 

 

4.     Fluent spoken and written English language skills and vocabulary, sufficient to quickly read and understand support documentation that describes the installation and troubleshooting of computers, printers, and other computerized equipment in use at the Embassy.

 

5.     Knowledge of PC hardware and software is required.  Knowledge of Microsoft products such as: Windows 2003, Exchange 2003, Windows XP, Vista, Microsoft Office 2007, etc.  Must be able to recognize when PC components are malfunctioning and/or not properly installed and know how to fix them or properly install them.

 

 

6.     Excellent written English skills are required sufficient to write step-by-step procedures for completing computer maintenance and installation tasks that can be easily understood and followed by the employee’s peers in the LAN administration sections.

 

7.     Must complete Network+ within one year of hire date.

 

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA

 

1.     Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.

2.     Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.

3.     Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.

4.     Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.

5.     The candidate must be able to obtain and retain a Secret security clearance.
