The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta is seeking an individual for the position of Medical Technologist in Health Unit.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
The incumbent performs full range of routine and highly complex medical technologist duties and clinical laboratory procedures independently in the Health Unit Laboratory with minimal direct supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1. Diploma (D4) from an accredited (Ministry of Education) four-year clinical laboratory technician program or B.S. degree in Biology is required.
2. A minimum of 3 (three) years experience in a hospital, clinic or medical research laboratory, performing complex procedures in all areas of clinical laboratory testing including diagnosis of infectious and tropical diseases.
3. Level III English and Level IV Bahasa Indonesia.
4. Must have good knowledge in complex laboratory procedures, tests and examination such as phlebotomy, hematology, urinalysis, chemistry, microbiology, serology, immunulogy, bloodbanking and parasitology. Knowledge of quality local laboratories and medical facilities; work structure and bureaucracy in Indonesian Red Cross are required.
5. Must have skills in laboratory techniques to diagnose infectious and tropical diseases (HIV, malaria, hepatitis, Schistosomaisis, dengue fever, typhoid). Ability to perform preventive maintenance on sensitive laboratory analytical equipment. Ability to make decisions requiring modifications to adapt methodology to achieve valid results. Ability to report laboratory results in clear concise manner. Ability to teach/train on laboratory, general hygiene and safety issues. Ability to operate PC and familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
