U.S. Embassy Jakarta wins Gold Standard Award for Diplomatic Engagement from Public Affairs Asia

U.S. Ambassador Scot Marciel accepted the Public Affairs Asia Gold Standard Award for Diplomatic Engagement on January 19 in Singapore on behalf of U.S. Embassy Jakarta. The American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia nominated Embassy Jakarta for the award in recognition of the Embassy's public outreach efforts. Two specific areas mentioned in the award nomination included high-tech cultural center @america, the only center of its kind in the world, and the Embassy's use of online tools to connect with the Indonesian public.
During the awards ceremony, Ambassador Marciel praised the Embassy’s outreach efforts. He said, “I am pleased that this award recognizes the outstanding work of the Embassy Jakarta team in engaging Indonesians about the United States using innovative technology.”
The Public Affairs Asia Gold Standard Award for Diplomatic Engagement honors the outreach work of a foreign diplomatic mission in Asia Pacific or an Asian mission overseas. It recognizes achievement in public affairs in areas such as the promotion of trade, economic, political, or cultural relations.
