The U.S. Embassy Jakarta is seeking an individual for the position of Cultural Affairs Assistant (Education USA Media Coordinator/Educational Advisor) for Public Affairs/Cultural Affairs Section.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

Under the general supervision of the Senior Education Advisor (Cultural Affairs Specialist), and the indirect supervision of the CAO, incumbent identifies, reformats and creates content for Education USA in print, broadcast and social media platforms. Tracks and adopt latest trends in Indonesia media market and advises on best methods to promote Education USA within the media. Engages with bloggers and online website to promote study in the U.S. throughout Indonesia. Works with @america staff to develop content and programs designed to attract youth to study in the U.S. Incumbent manages the virtual advising website answering simple questions or forwarding more difficult ones to advising staff. Incumbent must develop a familiarity with educational opportunities and the admissions process in the USA for groups and individuals. Incumbent works with other USG agencies and organizations as well as local government officials to provide information on US study.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

  1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, computer science or related field is required.
  2. Minimum two years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in marketing/communications/public relations in an educational field or in international higher education; Extensive experience in the customer service is required.
  3. Level IV (fluent) in speaking/reading/writing English and Bahasa Indonesia are required.
  4. Must have knowledge of marketing, public relations, web design and digital outreach. Conversant knowledge of U.S. undergraduate and graduate admissions processes and requirements, including diversity of types of US colleges and universities, of financial aid requirements for international students and of educational options in the US.
  5. Must have strong writing and design skills including HTML, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr, etc. Must have basic knowledge of graphic applications like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
  6. Must have strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills and strong public speaking skills.
