U.S. Military and TNI Participate in Fire Response Exercises

The U.S. Army Pacific Command (USARPAC) participated in a wild land fire response exercises with the Indonesian Army (TNI) in Pekanbaru from July 27 to July 31.  Since wild land fires occur frequently in Riau Province, Riau Provincial disaster management authorities from thirty-three different organizations and several international corporations in Pekanbaru participated in the exercises.  Almost 400 participants equipped with a wide variety of firefighting equipment, such as fire trucks and helicopters with Bambi buckets, participated in the five-day exercises.  The exercises also included workshops to exchange expertise and actual wild land firefighting drills.
