U.S. Government Provides Anti-Trafficking in Persons, Fraud Training to Indonesian Police

The U.S. Department of Justice’s International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) and Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), and U.S. Embassy Jakarta’s consular section’s Fraud Prevention Unit conducted a series of seminars on how to fight Trafficking-in-Persons and identify document fraud for the Indonesian National Police and Indonesian Attorney General’s Office prosecutors.

The training focuses on identifying human trafficking and human smuggling, recognizing counterfeit documents, and other applicable investigative techniques. The goal of the training is to create a general understanding of human trafficking crimes, build capacity for preventing fraud and increase cooperation between the police and prosecutors in prosecuting criminals involved in such crimes. The week-long training from consists of five seminars which will train 125 police officers and 50 prosecutors.
