AMINEF Honors U.S. Embassy’s
Departing Deputy Chief of Mission Heffern

Jakarta – U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission John Heffern (third from right) was honored May 14 by the American Indonesian Exchange Foundation (AMINEF) Board at an event for the new batch of some 100 Indonesian Fulbright scholarship awardees, who will be departing shortly for study, teaching or research in the United States.  Several U.S. and Indonesian members of the AMINEF Board presented Mr. Heffern with a souvenir mug and a certificate of appreciation for his strong support of international education programs and mutual understanding.  Mr. Heffern, who will shortly complete a three-year diplomatic assignment in Indonesia, said the U.S. Embassy is putting increased emphasis on the importance of higher education cooperation as a key element in America’s evolving comprehensive partnership with Indonesia.
