Chevron in Indonesia Selected as Award for Corporate Excellence FinalistNovember 7, 2006
Chevron in Indonesia is among the 12 finalists selected for the U.S. Secretary of State’s prestigious 2006 Award for Corporate Excellence (ACE). These 12 U.S. companies wee chosen from 55 nominations submitted by American Ambassadors around the world. ACE finalists are international business leaders who recognize the vital role that U.S. business play abroad as good corporate citizens. Chevron of Indonesia was selected as one of the 12 finalists in recognition of its generous earthquake and tsunami relief efforts, excellent vocational training program and effective policies to promote good governance and combat bribery. Since 1924, Chevron has made lasting and significant contributions to the Indonesian economy and its people. The 2006 ACE Award recognizes the company’s long-standing commitment to Indonesia’s humanitarian needs. “These activities exhibit the best qualities that America can embody overseas – compassion, innovation, leadership and community involvement,” said Josette Sheeran, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs. The U.S. Secretary of State has awarded the ACE since 1999 recognizing the role that U.S. businesses play in advancing good corporate citizenship, innovation and democratic principles. The Department of State is committed to working with American business to further these best practices worldwide and to recognize the contribution business makes to improving lives at home and abroad.
