U.S. Embassy Announces Extension of Deadline 
for Fulbright FLTA Grants

The application deadline for the 2007-2008 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) program grants has been extended to November 30, 2006. Administered by the American Indonesian Exchange Foundation (AMINEF), the FLTA program is designed for Indonesian English language teachers or those currently in training to become English language teachers, who are 29 years of age or younger at the time of application. The program is for one academic year (9 months) and requires the grantee to teach Indonesian language and culture in the U.S. for 20 hours per week and enables grantees to enroll in at least two U.S. Studies and/or ESL methodology classes per semester under a full tuition waiver.

Candidates for this program must have: completed a Sarjana (S1) degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.00 scale); leadership qualities; a good understanding of Indonesian and international cultures; a demonstrated commitment to the chosen field of study; a willingness to return to their home institution upon completion of the Fulbright program; and a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (only scores less than two years old are valid).
