How do I register with the Embassy to receive emergency messages and SMS alerts

You may receive embassy emergency messages if you Register Online.  If you register, we can easily contact you in an emergency. Your information is protected by the Privacy Act.

We would like to advise all American citizens to re-register your phone number with our 9388 Warden SMS Service.

This service was temporarily deactivated following the Indonesian Ministry of Communication’s decision to terminate and unregister all unwarranted premium SMS services. The system has been activated, but subscribers will need to re-register their number again.


Please follow these steps to re-register:
(If using Blackberry, go to SMS icon)

1. Type the following text:
   REG<space>ALRT<space>LASTNAME#FIRSTNAME, e.g. REG ALRT BROWN#DAVID;
2. Send it to 9388
3. Each subscriber will receive a SMS confirmation of registration;
4. You will be charged RP2200 per SMS Alert Message

Note that if you are using a Telkomsel number, you will need to confirm your registration by replying ‘YA’ to two confirmation text messages.
