International SOS was organized as a clinic oriented to providing care to the expatriate community.  It is affiliated with Asia Emergency Assistance, a regional medical evacuation organization.  They have a doctor and ambulance on duty 24 hours a day.  As in all Indonesian health care facilities, only Indonesian doctors are allowed to treat patients.  SOS, however, has an expatriate consultant physician on the premises most of the time.

Global Doctor was recently opened as a joint venture between a Perth, Australia-based healthcare company and Global Assistance, a European medical assistance company in competition with International SOS.  This clinic is smaller than SOS but offers the same services plus an option to schedule a telemedicine appointment with a consultant in Perth.

This hospital is the closest to the Mulia Hotel and the Jakarta Convention Center.  It has a small emergency room and ICU, and around 110 beds.  Doctor coverage is spotty.

A modern, clean, general hospital with up-to date facilities, a 24-hour emergency room and also its own ambulance service.  The hospital has 155 beds and a large clinic.  All physicians are on the faculty of the University of Indonesia School of Medicine.
