U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) document processing available to residents of Indonesia.  Services involving a document starting with I- or G- are under the jurisdiction of the DHS, Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS), not the Department of State.  For details please see http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis.

Immigrant petitions (I-130) for relatives of U.S. citizens: To sponsor a relative for immigration to the U.S. please see U.S. Immigration of Relatives of U.S. Citizens Residing in Indonesia.

Reentry Permit (I-327):  If you are a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (LPR or Green Card holder) but must remain outside of the U.S. for an extend period of time, and if you wish to retain your LPR status, please apply for a Reentry Permit (I-327) by mail before you depart the U.S. by filing an I-131, see http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/ with CIS.  CIS will notify you of the outcome of your application.  If approved by CIS, CIS will mail the I-327 either to your U.S. address or to us.  If the I-327 is mailed to us, please contact us at jakIV@state.gov to come and pick it up.  Please bring your ID and Green Card when you come to pick up your I-327.

Abandonment of Lawful Permanent Residence (LPR) Status (I-407):  Please download I-407 [PDF 624Kb] and complete only those items that are highlighted in yellow.  You must come here and abandon your LPR status in person.  Please make an appointment at jakIV@state.gov.  All family members who wish to abandon their LPR status must come to the Embassy.  Please bring the following documents with your on your day of appointment.

  • Completed I-407,
  • Your Alien Registration Receipt Card (I-551 or Green Card), if available.  If not in your possession then a signed, dated statement explaining its loss, or a police report explaining its theft.

We will return a copy of your completed I-407 to you as your receipt.  Please show this I-407 receipt to DHS immigration inspectors when you travel to the U.S.  Once we accept your completed I-407 you revert to nonimmigrant status.  Abandoning your LPR status does not prevent you from immigrating to the U.S. in the future and may not relieve you of U.S. tax obligations.  If you wish to immigrate to the U.S. in the future you must qualify for a new immigrant visa from the beginning.  Inform the Internal Revenue Service by filing Form 8854, see http://www.irs.gov/instructions/i8854/ch01.html#d0e52.
